Midsummer Watercolour Workshop

Enjoy a day of art and inspiration. Discover the beauty of flowers, as Edinburgh Artist, Jenny Matthews RSW, joins us to teach floral watercolour painting using fresh, seasonal flowers from the hotel garden. 

Jenny will demonstrate watercolour techniques and will be on hand to offer individual tutoring. Nature, beauty and tranquility are assured during this immersive day of creativity.

Using artist-quality watercolours and paper, Jenny will teach colour-mixing skills, control of water and how to create the effects which make watercolour unique, followed by demonstrations of flower painting throughout the day. You will have plenty of opportunity to explore the medium and to create your own painting whilst working from the Cromlix garden flowers. Paint, paper and the use of a variety of brushes are provided. Jenny’s paintings will be displayed to inspire you.

 

A little about your tutors for the workshop ~ 

Jenny Matthews RSW is a watercolour artist specialising in flowers and plants. Her method of painting embraces the unpredictable qualities of the medium and is full of movement and colour. As well as exhibiting in galleries throughout the UK, she also teaches watercolour classes and workshops. Jenny is a council member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour, has won two prizes at the Royal Watercolour Society and was twice shortlisted for the Fabriano International Watercolour Prize in Italy.

To Note

The workshop will take place between 10am and 2.30pm in the beautiful surroundings of the Library, with afternoon tea served in the Study.

Dietary requirements will be required in advance. 

All art materials will be provided on the day.

The group size will be a maximum of 10 guests.

Cancellations made within 7 days of the event are non-refundable. However, if your place is successfully filled by another participant, a full refund will be issued.
